These Terms of Use, along with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, Accessibility Statement
apply to all of Jane Goodall Institute’s digital platforms, including this website and its
subdomains, rootsandshoots.org, shop.janegoodall.org and websites accessed through your
mobile devices, and JGI’s own social media sites (“Media”).
By accessing or using our Media, you agree to these Terms of Use. These Terms should be read
together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, Accessibility Statement, and any applicable
program-specific terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the
effective date and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Changes become effective
upon posting unless otherwise stated. Your continued use of the Media after changes become
effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
By accessing and using our Media, you agree to be bound to these Terms of Use. We
may modify, add to, or delete portions of these Terms of Use at any time, and any modifications,
additions or deletions to these terms will become immediately, prospectively effective upon

“JGI,” “we,” “us,” or “our” means Jane Goodall Institute USA, including its websites, programs,
digital properties, and authorized representatives operating under these Terms of Use.
“Media” means JGI’s websites, subdomains, mobile-accessible websites, applications, social
media pages, digital communications, and related online services, including but not limited to
rootsandshoots.org, shop.janegoodall.org, and websites accessed through mobile devices.
“Site” or “Sites” means any website, webpage, digital platform, or online service owned,
operated, or controlled by JGI and governed by these Terms.
“Content” means all materials made available through the Site or Media, including text, graphics,
images, photographs, video, audio, software, downloadable materials, logos, trademarks, service
marks, designs, layouts, educational materials, data compilations, and other content.
“User,” “you,” or “your” means any individual, organization, volunteer, donor, participant,
educator, parent/guardian, or other entity accessing or using the Site or Media.
“User Content” means content submitted, uploaded, shared, or otherwise provided by users,
including comments, photographs, videos, testimonials, submissions, volunteer materials, event
content, forms, feedback, messages, or other materials.
“Programs” means JGI-operated initiatives, campaigns, volunteer opportunities, educational
programs, fundraising activities, and youth engagement programs, including Jane Goodall’s
Roots & Shoots.
“Services” means the functionality, resources, programs, donations, transactions,
communications, educational tools, and digital features made available through the Site or
Media.
Copyright Overview
JGI Media available on this website, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons,
images, audio clips, video content, data compilations, software, design elements, and layout
(collectively, the “Content”), is the property of Jane Goodall Institute USA, its licensors, or
content providers, and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual
property laws. Unless otherwise stated, all rights, title, and interest in and to the Content are
owned exclusively by the Jane Goodall Institute USA. No ownership rights are transferred to
users by virtue of accessing or using this website.
Permitted Use
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and
use the website and its Content solely for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these
Terms of Use.
You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, or distribute any Content without prior written permission
- Modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Content

- Impersonate any person or entity or falsely suggest affiliation with JGI
- Use the Site for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, discriminatory, or harmful purposes
Trademark
The Jane Goodall Institute, Jane Goodall Institute USA, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots,
and other JGI trademarked content. All rights reserved. The Jane Goodall Institute is committed
to the enforcement of its trademark rights. Use of any JGI owned marks without permission
may constitute infringement under the law and result in legal action. Use of any JGI trademark,
service mark and logos is strictly prohibited without prior written consent.
User Generated Content
If you submit or post content to the website, you represent that you own or have the necessary
rights to submit such content. By submitting content, you grant the Jane Goodall Institute a non-
exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and distribute such
content in connection with the operation of the website and business activities.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Agreement shall be construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the District of
Columbia, USA. You hereby consent to and submit to the jurisdiction of the courts located in the
District of Columbia, and any action or suit under this Agreement shall be brought in any federal
or state court with appropriate jurisdiction over the subject matter established or sitting in the
District of Columbia. You shall not raise in connection therewith, and hereby waives,
any defenses based upon venue, the inconvenience of the forum, the lack of personal jurisdiction,
the sufficiency of service of process or the like in any such action or suit brought in the District
of Columbia.
Paid Transactions
If you make a donation the Site, you agree to provide accurate payment information. All
donations are voluntary and, unless otherwise stated, are non-refundable. The Organization
reserves the right to refuse or return donations that are inconsistent with its mission or that may
jeopardize its tax-exempt status.
TAXES: You agree to pay and be responsible for all sales taxes, use taxes, value added
taxes, withholding taxes, and duties imposed by any jurisdiction as a result of the license
granted by JGI.
Termination
JGI may terminate this agreement at any time if you breach any of the terms of this or any other
agreement with JGI, in which case you must immediately: cease using the material ; delete or
destroy any copies; and, if requested, confirm to JGI in writing that you have complied with
these requirements.
Content Withdrawal
JGI may discontinue licensing any item of material at any time in its sole discretion. JGI may
require you to, at your own expense, cease using the material, delete or destroy any copies; and
ensure that your clients/ distributors and/or employer do likewise. JGI will provide you with
replacement material (as is reasonable, as determined by JGI) free of charge, subject to the other
terms of this
Volunteer and Program Participation
Participation in volunteer activities or programs such as Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots may
require additional agreements, waivers, or codes of conduct. The Jane Goodall Institute reserves
the right to decline, suspend, or terminate volunteer or program participation at its discretion to
protect participants and further its mission.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jane Goodall Institute from any claims, damages,
liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of:
- Your use of the Site
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your infringement of any third-party rights
Disclaimers
The site and services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind,
express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for
particular purpose and Non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
Copyright Infringement
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice pursuant
to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)) including:

Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Jane Goodall Institute and its affiliates,
officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, partners, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but
not limited to loss of profits, loss of goodwill, loss of data, service interruption, or other
intangible losses, arising out of or relating to:
- Your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the website or any content, materials, or services provided through the website;
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the website;
- Any content obtained from the website; or
- Unauthorized access to, use of, or alteration of your transmissions or information.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JGI’s total cumulative liability to you for any and all
claims arising out of or relating to your use of the website shall not exceed the greater of (a) one
hundred U.S. dollars (US $100), or (b) the amount, if any, you paid to JGI through the website in
the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude liability that cannot be limited or excluded under
applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud where such
limitation is prohibited.
If you are dissatisfied with the website or any portion thereof, your sole and exclusive remedy is
