Chimp Guardian Update
Chimpanzeez Falero and Lounama in their outdoor facility at Tchimpounga main sanctuary.

Falero

Falero continues to lead a simple, happy life alongside the adult female Lounama. They are inseparable and Falero even hugs and protects her when he senses danger. Despite how close they are, Falero is at the stage of his life where he needs to play with other chimps his age and be mischievous. Lounama sometimes plays with him, but she tires quickly. Now that it’s the wet season in Congo, it is extremely humid and hot.  Lounama prefers to rest in the shade that the roof casts from the platform until the sun starts to drop at around 2 p.m. Falero, however, prefers to move around all day long. His energy has driven him to cause a bit of a ruckus, and his strength is much greater than it used to be. Because of his playfulness, he is gradually destroying the wooden platform in the outer facility. He’s definitely no longer a baby. The maintenance team will have to repair the platform and find a way to rebuild it so that Falero can’t break it again.
